The Beauty of the Unrushed Life (aka 9 months post- retirement from the corporate job)

August 12, 2026: There is a particular kind of calm that arrives only when you stop rushing yourself. It’s been tough to break the pattern. Doing, being, pleasing, taking care of – everyone but me had become a habit. But slowly I can feel a change. It doesn’t announce itself loudly. It doesn’t demand a grand gesture. It simply appears — often in the smallest moments — when you choose to move through your day with presence instead of pressure.

Today, I found myself noticing how often we treat life like a race. Even the quiet hours become something to “optimize.” The morning coffee becomes a task. The walk becomes a metric. The pause becomes something to justify.

But a meaningful life isn’t built from speed. It’s built from attention.

So today, The T Edit is an invitation to slow the pace — not dramatically, not performatively, but gently. Thoughtfully. In ways that feel like a soft exhale. I say this as I’m slowly working the day – I can’t say I’ve done anything dramatic today. But that’s okay. As a work in progress, unrushed, unhasseled –

Maybe it looks like:

  • Clearing one surface instead of the whole room.
  • Drinking your tea while it’s still warm.
  • Choosing a single priority for your day instead of ten competing ones.
  • Letting a moment be exactly what it is, without trying to make it more.

The unrushed life isn’t about doing less. It’s about doing things with intention, with care, with a sense of alignment that makes even the simplest rituals feel meaningful.

When you stop rushing, you start noticing.

Love, Terra

Hello world!

I am Terra – welcome to The T Edit!

Today is a new beginning.

Late last year, I decided something needed to change.

I was in an executive-level corporate position for a Fortune 5 organization, and I had accomplished my biggest life goals, but something was missing. My buckets were empty, and I was emotionally exhausted. Having worked since the age of 12, I had raised my two amazing children as a single mother while also working in a full-time career and returning to school when I was 40.

With the 20-year goal of completing my education, I graduated in 2022 with my PhD in Organizational Management and Leadership. My Research Dissertation involved the impact of Organizational Culture on the success of Health Care Merger/Acquisitions. In 2025, I became a Certified Life Coach.

Thereafter, I left my executive role at the end of 2025 to reclaim my joy. I had lost myself somewhere along the way.

The T Edit is a reflection of what I have learned so far. I am excited to share with you!
